All courses are offer online with downloadable text and video training for most modules. There is no time limit, but training should be completed in 30-60 days. Each level has a competency exam. A certificate as a Certified Green Officer is awarded upon susful completion (See Term and Conditions)
This course does not make you an expert! It allows you to be well-versed and knowledgeable on the variety of subjects that every sustain ability officer will encounter. In addition, the efforts of the CSO can prepare a business for the audit process required for a Green business certification. It would be a conflict of interest to allow a CSO to audit the results of the environmental progress. However, much of the work can be done through the efforts of the CSO. Since this person is already on the payroll, the costs to install a sustainability program are minimized. Also, the savings realized by the company will be realized sooner.
TERMS OF USE: Certified Sustainability Officer term is limited to use by those who have earned the right to display the trademark. This program extends the right to use this trademark to graduates of the Certified Sustainability Officer training annually. Certified Sustainability Officers (aka CSOs) are trained to develop a tailored sustainability plan that will provide an orderly path to Green business that should lead to a credible Green certification. As an earned designation, there is an annual requirement to maintain the status of a Certified Sustainability Officer by taking no less than 10 CEUs of training. CEU training will be provided annually for a flat fee of $100 and the student must complete other related training, such information can be submitted to the office in lieu of the CEU. In such cases, the renewal fee will only be $100 annually for years of other CEU qualification.
